Astier de Villatte translates Wes Anderson’s world into stationery
At Astier de Villatte, writing isn’t limited to words: it becomes texture, color, and a playful nod. This spring, the Parisian house has created a highly appealing object—blurring the lines between cinema, craftsmanship, and fine art—in collaboration with Wes Anderson and the publisher We Do Not Work Alone.

Eight Wes Anderson films captured in eight notebooks
Designed as an immersion into the filmmaker’s aesthetic, this notepad revisits eight of his cult films through letterhead designs, featuring headers inspired by the visual and narrative worlds that define his signature style. Each header evokes a distinct atmosphere, from the imaginary palace of The Grand Budapest Hotel to the romantic escapades of Moonrise Kingdom, via the nomadic tales of The Darjeeling Limited or the aquatic eccentricity of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Printed using traditional letterpress techniques in Astier de Villatte’s workshop in Haÿ-les-Roses, the pages feature a subtle color palette, giving the notebook’s spine a poetic look that reflects the hues of the rainbow when all the notebooks are placed together. The covers, each one unique, feature a graphic motif derived from the geometric pattern found on the kimono worn by Benicio del Toro in The Phoenician Scheme, the director’s latest feature film, and are handcrafted on vintage presses using the brand’s traditional expertise.

A rainbow design on the edges of these notebooks makes them a collector's item
Both collectibles and writing tools, these notebooks celebrate Astier de Villatte’s passion for interdisciplinary fields: historic printing, decorative arts, publishing, and storytelling. They serve as a reminder that, even in the digital age, paper remains a realm of emotion and imagination, much like the world of Wes Anderson.
