Discover another side of Bordeaux at the Renaissance Bordeaux hotel
Four stars, 149 rooms, a crazy rooftop with pool, restaurant and bar, Italian flavors on every floor, original architecture installed in the former silos of the Bassins à Flots and stylish decor: the Renaissance Bordeaux hotel by griupe Marriott Bonvoy ticks all the boxes of Bordeaux's contemporary visgae. The flagship of the Marriott International group, this unique refuge is the perfect address for celebrating life for a weekend in the heart of Bordeaux's fashionable new district. And all this just 2 hours from Paris!
An entrance that sets the tone
It's a big wow when you enter the Hôtel Renaissance! Monumental, it occupies two of the eight silos preserved from the oil mills of the 9th century. It tells the story of the changing face of the Bassins à flot district, recognized by UNESCO for its industrial heritage. The conversion of these two silos into an entrance invites us to experience the place, and takes us through its history. The whole principle of the building is based on its inclusion in, or even obliteration of, the landscape, while at the same time offering visitors the opportunity to experience this landscape from a multitude of different viewpoints.
A grandiose rooftop
It's a unique privilege in Bordeaux. Swimming above the city with a view of its most beautiful monuments. The Renaissance hotel's swimming pool is nestled on the rooftop, on the 9th floor of the building. This "suspended pool", heated in part by energy from the kitchens, is open to guests all year round. It offers a postcard-perfect view of the Pont d'Aquitaine, the Cité du Vin and the Pont Jacques Chaban Delmas, in a skilfully staged seaside setting. To complete the relaxation experience, an area with 3 bubble baths invites you to enjoy the panorama for longer. For the more sporty, there's a state-of-the-art fitness room on the 8th floor. And for those who just want to eat and drink, this same rooftop captures a restaurant with panoramic views and terraces open to all services from breakfast to dinner. On the menu, the cream of Italian produce served without fuss: mozza bar, pizza, antipasti platters, homemade ice cream cart... Like an air of Dolce vita!
Decoration by Maison Malapert
Michael Malapert's challenge for the Renaissance hotel project was to create a dialogue between interior and exterior, the raw and the precious, the new and the historic. "The overall identity is developed to give each space its own particular narrative," he says. Under his leadership, the hotel has become a multi-faceted living space. The lobby is associated with an open-air coffee shop. The seminar rooms are lounges where creative exchanges can take place. In the rooms, the wood of the furniture, the velvet of the curtains and the shiny brass of the light fittings warm up the raw concrete. The view from the large bay windows is enhanced by a banquette frame that invites you to sit back and enjoy the view. And in each room, artworks created especially for the hotel have taken their place to give them a unique identity. On the 9th floor, the restaurant's large terrazzo bar is theatricalized by a luminous graphic paper sculpture. At the rear, a large glassed-in wine cellar takes its place in a lounge that can be privatized at will. Finally, the cocktail bar is inspired by the cabins of the Bassin d'Arcachon, with its wooden cladding and rope lighting fixtures.
A vibrant place
The Renaissance Hotel invites guests to enjoy a sensory experience. Art is seen as a living thing, nestled in every detail. Right down to the atmosphere, which vibrates with an exclusive fragrance with notes of concrete to underline the industrial vein of the architecture. A key player in local artistic life, the Renaissance also supports local creativity with a varied program of openings and concerts. What else?
