Hôtel La Sivolière: the discreet luxury of a Courchevel institution
A chalet with the feel of a large family home, the Hotel La Sivolière has been a discreet and reliable institution in the chic Alpine resort for fifty years.
Welcomed by manager Florence Carcassonne, who instills the warmth and friendliness that are the hotel's hallmarks, loyal guests return year after year to enjoy the comfortable rooms, the ski slopes accessible from the hotel, the direct mountain views, the Table de Madame and the cosy après-ski atmosphere by the fireplace.
A five-star hotel like a family home
Built in the pure Savoyard tradition by Jean Cattelin, one of Courchevel's pioneers, the wood-and-stone chalet overlooks the slopes amid century-old fir trees.
With 35 rooms and suites, the chalet hotel, which became five-star in 2010 after its first renovation, has been designed as a large house, keeping the family atmosphere and preserving the sober, exclusive spirit of the establishment's beginnings. The Alpine style has been reinterpreted, with a blend of raw wood and precious fabrics, highlighted by a décor as if guided by the taste and choice of a mistress of the house. An insider's secret well kept by connoisseurs, nothing here is impersonal: the dedicated, personalized comfort in each room and suite, the fireside by the bar, set up like a guest lounge, the unique welcome reserved for each guest, the super-comfortable family suites with adjoining bedroom, the provision of all the essentials, cocktails and a dedicated menu for dogs, received here as VIPs.
Florence Carcassonne, the charm of La Sivolière
With a master's hand in a velvet glove, Florence Carcassonne, who has been at the helm of this institution for fifteen years, is the charming asset who fully embodies the family spirit of this luxury establishment. Often accompanied by her faithful pooch, Google, the house dog, Madame -as her team calls her-, never short of recommendations and anecdotes, welcomes guests in a warm and friendly manner. Courchevel holds no secrets for this mountain dweller, originally from Corsica andAnnecy.
Breakfast in front of the slopes and ski in, ski out from the chalet
In the morning, after a hearty breakfast in Madame's dining room facing the slope, it's time to visit the hotel's ski-room, which offers the latest ski rentals and a wardrobe of ultra-desirable technical clothing, worthy of a trendy après-ski fashion show. Leaving the lounge-shop, the day begins on skis, with the slopes at your fingertips, the essence of luxury in the mountains.
Spa: indoor pool and body treatments with Scentiana natural products
After hitting the slopes at Trois Vallées, you can choose between treatments with Scentiana natural cosmetics (made from plant extracts and essential oils) in the massage cabin or a swim in the spa pool after a sauna.
La table de Madame by Corsican chef Dominique Olivieri Guadagna
For dinner, it's at La Table de Madame that new Corsican chef Dominique Olivieri Guadagna serves up dishes such as homemade pot-au-feu, chuck steak, seasonal soups and Savoy fondue, delicious after a taste of braised figatelli on toast, accompanied by a signature cocktail at the Bar de Madame, by the fireside. When Corsica meets Savoy, it's at La Table de Madame, in Courchevel 1850.
