Les Sources de Caudalie: Life in a Castle
At the gateway to Bordeaux, between centuries-old vineyards and Michelin-starred restaurants, Les Sources de Caudalie celebrates the perfect blend of nature, well-being and haute cuisine.
The only luxury hotel in Bordeaux, Les Sources de Caudalie is located in the heart of the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte. And while the resort is renowned for its woodland spa specializing in vinotherapy, the powers of nature can also be found in the kitchens of this exceptional hotel.

The kitchen is masterfully helmed by Nicolas Masse, who boasts two Michelin stars and four Gault&Millau toques to his credit. His secret? Healthy, natural ingredients, sourced as much as possible from the estate’s vegetable garden. Seasonal fruits and vegetables, aromatic herbs, and exotic plants: the chef spares no expense, working within a landscape partly shaped by his close collaboration with landscape architect Hugo Jarmasson, who oversees the estate’s vegetable gardens. A synergy between chef and landscape architect that goes beyond a simple supplier-chef relationship and is evident once the dish is plated, in a menu titled “A Journey Through Vine Country,” which unfolds in either 5 or 7 courses. We do, however, recommend finishing this culinary odyssey in one of the hotel’s 62 rooms and suites, scattered across 6 houses inspired by the architecture of the Aquitaine region. And if the urgeto immerse yourself in nature becomes too strong, head to La Chartreuse de Château le Thil, located 1.5 km from Les Sources de Caudalie, for a stay in complete privacy in a private home nestled within a centuries-old park.
