Passalacqua Lago di Como: the jewel of Lake Como
Within the hushed walls of Villa Passalacqua, amid frescoes, taffeta, precious marble and echoes of maestro Bellini's piano volutes, Italy reveals its most beautiful face here on the shores of Lake Como. Voted best hotel in the world, this 18thᵉ century residence, restored with almost devotional care, offers lovers a baroque and confidential interlude on the shores of Lake Como.

Fall in love again in Italy, in the most beautiful hotel in the world
This residence, built by Count Andrea Lucini-Passalacqua on land belonging to Pope Innocent XI, has been passionately restored over three years with almost devout care by the de Santis family to capture the quintessence of Italian craftsmanship and offer a suspended, baroque and confidential interlude for lovers, a visual impact, a sensual and emotional impregnation for all, a bewitching charm that permeates the moment in a dreamy natural setting.
The hotel is undoubtedly one of the most luxurious in Moltrasio, a small town on the shores of Lake Como. The hotel is intimate, revealing just 24 suites, chiselled down to the finest detail. One of these, the Bellini Suite, features the cathedral-ceilinged music room, where composer Vincenzo Bellini once played the piano, and where he composed the classic "Norma" and "La Sonnambula" for opera buffs;
A plunge into Italian history, with walls in brilliant damask and curtains in Como silk taffeta, over twenty different varieties of marble from the quarries of Verona and Carrara to embellish the bathrooms, including the incredible red Breccia Pontificia stone, veined with dark gray, the same as the Vatican, and Veneto terrazzo flooring in the Terrazzo Veneziano style , all the finest Italian craftsmanship bring their sophisticated, precious touch to this incredible hotel.
Gigantic Venetian blown-glass chandeliers by Barovier & Toso, lamps by Il Bronzetto, topped with traditional Fortuny silk abat jours , delicately detailed gilded mirrors custom-made by Barbini master glassmakers, sumptuous hand-painted frescoes, luxury and profusion of refined details, carefully chosen knick-knacks, porcelain by Richard Ginori, in the enfilade lounges and in the suites, each different from the next, flowers in vases abound, the glittering bar is equipped with all the utensils for a good cocktail and an Italian-style coffee machine, and the satin-finish wood-fiber sheets by Beltrami, their vaporous finesse give the impression of sleeping in a cloud, while the light-colored leather trunks studded with gold rivets commissioned from Bottega Conticelli, the equivalent of the Italian Hermès, house the hidden television, the whole house punctuated with reminders of the 3 lake lucini, 3 pikes that punctuate the house with winks in reference to the emblem from the ancient family coat of arms, all carried by attentive, personalized, impeccable service: such is the sumptuous setting of this incredible jewel of a hotel that continues to dazzle the world.
Best Hotel of the World in 2023 shortly after its opening, it has just been voted Best Boutique Hotel and Best Hotel In Europe 2025 by @50best_hotels.
It confirms its unique, precious character and unclassifiable charm.

Wonderful garden, romantic pool, crystal chandeliers and chiselled silverware: refinement in detail
The gardens stretch down to the lake, revealing a romantic swimming pool lined with scalloped parasols, so aesthetically pleasing and recognizable on the shores of this mythical lake, that it could be the signature of this magical place, creating a unique, intimate and discreet atmosphere, peculiar to a family home.
Breakfasts in the luminous dining room opening onto the terrace are gargantuan, presented with infinite attention to detail, served in the house's delicate porcelain and chiseled silverware.
Lunch is taken in the shade of the pergolas, to the sound of the lapping fountains, facing the lake; the aperitif serves a homemade Bellini or a cocktail prepared with the bartender; and dinner is a delight that declines the art of Italian living with a cuisine led by chef Viviana Varese.
The establishment also knows how to play with the codes of modernity, as it unveils, in 2024, its new spa dug into the villa's historic tunnels and in partnership with Seed to Skin Tuscany. Featuring an 18-metre indoor pool, treatment rooms and spa facilities carved from local stone, this new temple to well-being is another good reason to discover this exceptional villa.
