Pieve Alde, if I were told the story of Tuscany
Halfway between Florence and Siena, in the heart of the Chianti region, Pieve Aldina embodies the soul of Tuscany at its most poetic. Set in the hills above Radda, this former summer residence of the bishops of Siena has been transformed by Fontenille Collection.

Italian art of living by Fontenille
Passing the large stone porch, you discover a haven of peace invisible from the outside: terraced gardens, climbing roses, potted lemon trees, century-old wisteria and a boxwood labyrinth. The hotel is spread over four ochre stone buildings, with a total of 22 rooms and suites bathed in light. Italian design furniture sits alongside neoclassical frescoes, antique beams, framed herbariums and works of art printed on marble. The restaurant, run by chef Flavio Faedi, reinterprets Tuscan culinary traditions: peposo, pappa al pomodoro, homemade gnocchi or crostini with pecorino are served in a vaulted room or, in summer, in the shade of the olive trees. A convivial wine library and a more intimate table d'hôtes complete the experience. Pieve Aldina also celebrates the Italian art of living in its most immersive dimension: vineyard walks, oenology courses, truffle hunts, weddings in the adjoining Romanesque church, or simply contemplating the hills from the heated swimming pool: la dolce vita has never been more aptly named than with this first Italian address by Fontenille Collection.
