New Mamas in France: Mama Shelter in Rennes, 4 stars and a spa and Mama Shelter in Dijon, a hotel in Burgundy
The Accor group's trendy brand has acquired two new establishments in France, one with 119 rooms in the heart of Rennes, on Place des Lices, and the latest, in July in Dijon, with 120 rooms opposite Saint Bénigne Cathedral. These modern inns are conquering French cities, with openings soon in Singapore, Colombia and Los Angeles.
4 stars and a spa for the Mama Shelter in Rennes
As in other Mama Shelter hotels, you can eat, drink and sleep here (as always), and surprise, you can also pamper yourself! Head for Mama Skin, a mineral, colorful and sensual 380m2 spa, incidentally the largest wellness center in Rennes. Here, you'll enjoy a 12-meter-long swimming pool, a hamam, a sauna and solo or duo massage cabins nestled beneath stone vaults. The spa's products are sourced from carefully selected partners: organic lifestyle skincare house Absolution and Breton holistic natural skincare house Ho Karan. A la carte, signature treatments to treat yourself to during your stay, such as Ho Karan's 90-minute Anti Burn-Out ritual, combining a back massage and a facial to say goodbye to stress and reveal a radiant glow (€180). And why not treat your hands to some super vegan products from the trendy Manucurist brand (50€). Well, well!
Mama Shelter Dijon, a Burgundian hotel
This is the group’s 10th hotel in France, and it’s located in Burgundy. Located on Rue du Maret in the center of Dijon, near the Jardin Darcy, in the former health insurance building—a Brutalist structure from the 1960s listed by Bâtiments de France—it is a 6-minute walk from the train station and offers unique views of the spires and gargoyles of the beautiful Saint-Bénigne Cathedral, not far from the “climats ,” the region’s well-known vineyards such as Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites,
It offers 120 rooms across five floors, all designed by Benjamin El Doghaïli, the architect from Mama Shelter’s design studio, who drew inspiration from the region’s distinctive features to create a bright, colorful, and playful space—much like its predecessors—that respects the city’s character while blending the Mama Shelter spirit with the pale Burgundy stone, paying a vibrant tribute to wine in every artistic touch, such as Beniloys’ frescoes, the golden ceramics by Arnold from the Bazar d’Alger, and the cut-out screen prints by Atelier Bingo.
Several bars, a fine dining area, a veranda or outdoor patio, two karaoke rooms, and a 28-seat CinéMama, along with workshops for seminars or parties with friends—one of which is designed as a wine cellar—a tasting area with a high table, and glass walls complete the living spaces in this hybrid setting that highlights, in its own way, the magnificent surrounding vineyards.
