The Luxe de Poche exhibition at the Musée Cognacq-Jay
Paris art museum showcases treasures
Given the success of the presentation, the Luxe de poche exhibition has moved its closing date to November 24. A chance to (re)discover this collection of small precious objects and related items, curated by Sixtine de Saint Léger and Gabrielle Baraud.

It was due to close on September 29. In the end, the Luxe de poche exhibition decided to keep its doors open until November 24, despite the wishes of latecomers and art lovers alike. Head for the Musée Cognacq-Jay, located in an elegant townhouse in the Marais district, in the 3th arrondissement of Paris, renowned for its masterpieces by the greatest artists of the 18th century. As its name suggests, the collection is built around small, sophisticated objects, sometimes covered in gold or adorned with hard or precious stones, sometimes dressed in mother-of-pearl, porcelain, translucent enamels and miniatures. Snuffboxes, cases, boxes of all kinds, flasks, perfume guns, suckers, notebooks... These objects, beloved since the Age of Enlightenment, amaze us with their refinement and detail.
Room after room, this journey through time reveals details, customs, and everyday practices of yesteryear. The exhibition "Pocket Luxury" offers a fresh perspective on these precious objects, which bear witness to an art, culture, and fashion that are now gone but remain appealing. Thanks to their aesthetic appeal and technical design, these objects are still considered symbols of wealth and craftsmanship, treasures to be preserved. To explore these stories further, the objects are displayed alongside other works, such as fashion accessories, clothing, paintings in which they feature, and even furniture, specially designed to store them and brimming with ingenious features. A fascinating dialogue between the art of living of yesteryear and today.
