New Chinese Menu at Gros Bao
In Paris and Marseille, Chinese New Year and the Year of the Wooden Snake are celebrated with a traditional Chinese menu to attract fortune and providence.
With this special menu served on January 29, the Year of the Wood Snake is off to a great start.
Rich in symbolism, it will feature “Spring Rolls,” which evoke the golden hue of gold ingots and invite wealth into the home; plump, homemade mini bao buns in place of traditional dumplings; and a “Snake Cucumber” that winds its way across the plate, unfolding a delightful array of pickled and spicy cucumber. The menu reflects that this year the Wood Snake takes the place of the Wood Dragon.
Next will be the traditional Peking duck, a roast that heralds a year marked by providence and abundance, and peanut and green tea Tang Yuan—a type of dumpling made from flour and glutinous rice, filled and served in a sweet soup, traditionally eaten during the Lantern Festival, two weeks after the Chinese New Year, and symbolizing family.
But above all, and exclusively: a Lava Bao, a sweet bao with a molten center stamped with the Chinese character for the snake!
To extend the Chinese New Year festivities, the two Gros Bao restaurants in Paris and Marseille will be offering another "special Chinese New Year menu" from January 30 to February 28 at €22 per person, with a big surprise: a Fortune Cookie will be slipped into each menu, with a trip to Hong Kong for two to be won.
The perfect way to celebrate the new year of the lunar calendar.
For the menu of January 29, 2025, 3 times for 2 persons, Duck menu at 80€ and Pork Charsiu menu at 50€.
