Handwritten Collection: a four-star hotel in the heart of Fort Saint Laurent in Lyon, in the Croix Rousse district
An exceptional historical site, Place Bellevue, transformed into a four-star hotel that remains open to the public.
With its heritage roots, 16th-century building and panoramic views, Lyon's Hotel Fort Saint Laurent was born on the hill of Croix Rousse, after the impressive renovation of Fort Saint Laurent, an ode to the city's historic heritage.

On Place Bellevue, in Lyon's Croix-Rousse district, a UNESCO World Heritage site, stands Fort Saint Laurent. This 16th-century building has lived through many chapters before being transformed into a four-star hotel , becoming the fourth establishment in the Accor Group's Handwritten Collection brand. Architects Cécile Chomard and Marion Simeone, of A Graph and MS Design respectively, were responsible for the extensive renovation. It took two years to reinvent this long-awaited address, which opened in September 2024.
Today, the hotel blends skilfully with its original setting and history. The high ceilings, exposed stonework, wooden beams and sublime central staircase have been preserved, while aging woodwork has been replaced, the gardens rehabilitated and new openings created. A 112m2 panoramic terrace overlooks the city and its rooftops, revealing a new Rousses restaurant with a menu of tapas, local produce to share, and hearty breakfasts. In fine weather, you can look forward to festive evenings with DJs, entertainers and stand-up singers.
The boutique-hotel offers 35 rooms on three floors, from 15m2 to 41m2. Parquet flooring and beams mingle with woodwork and French ceilings. Streamlined, the rooms are accompanied by bathrooms with black marble-like tiling and earthenware walls.
In 2025, a Sothys spa with assin, sauna, hammam, treatment room and fitness area promises a rejuvenating interlude in the heart of Lyon. A jewel to add to your Lyon address book
